Board-certified, academic, collaborative pathologists. We work with dermatologists and oral providers to diagnose skin, hair, nail and oral biopsies. If you received a bill from CTA Pathology, your provider sent us a specimen and requested we work with them to diagnose the tissue.
Digital Healthcare Pioneers
Pathologists work closely with in-house histotechnologists to produce brilliant glass slides and digital slide images. As the first fully-digital dermatopathology lab in the US, we are committed to advancing healthcare technology as a tool for integrative patient care.
Integrative Patient Care
Physician-owned and operated, we understand the critical role a diagnosis plays in your patients’ treatment plans. Exceptional patient care is at the core of our company mission. Each member of every department at CTA has been hand selected to deliver this mission.
Histology Laboratory Leaders
Laboratory staff and high-complexity technicians at CTA are qualified and credentialed. Special stains, tests and IHCs are validated alongside a pathologist to ensure brilliant slide quality and preserve specimen integrity–from hematoxylin & eosin to direct immunofluorescence (DIF) and more.
Privately owned and operated by CTA namesake Dr. Curtis Thompson and vested partners, every department has been curated to deliver our mission of exceptional patient care.

We offer a growing menu of dermatopathology, oral pathology and histology laboratory services. In addition to traditional immunohistochemical staining and diagnostic reports for tissue biopsies, we also offer direct immunofluorescence (DIF) for vasculitis, autoimmune bullous and connective tissue disorders, as well as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for nail fungus dermatophyte speciation.
DIF testing illuminates protein buildups and allows our providers to diagnose a range of tricky skin conditions, including autoimmune bullous diseases, connective tissue disorders and vasculitis.
CTA Pathology’s laboratory partners with providers to complete the technical component and IHC staining, effectively preparing dermatologists and pathologists alike to read the case.
